I've got some great first-year debaters; we're at a very good urban high school in Illinois. These students are involved in debate for their own enjoyment and benefit, not because someone is pushing them. They value the competition, the intellectual challenge, and the teamwork. We're in a rebuilding year, and I feel fortunate to be working with a great group of talented, intelligent and passionate students.
