This year is not like any other! It is myself and my leads first year in Transition Services. Our students are very low functioning and need significant support throughout the day. The materials we are requesting would significantly help our students with basic every day mobility, learning important life skills and help them focus in the classroom and at home if we are forced to go remote. A normal day in our program consists of, riding public transit and taking our students out to multiple places in the community and teaching them the basics of every day life. The survival signs book will help our students better techniques of survival, especially since we are trying to get them to be an independent as possible. The other items will help them get their fidgets out while sitting in a chair and the phones will help them hear themselves while communicating and prompt them to correct pronunciation, which is extremely important in the community. Our goal is to help our students become as successful as they can, given the everyday challenges they deal with. There is nothing more that we want for out students, than to succeed and be able to become more independent as young adults!
