During this time of distance learning, we are looking for ways to make teaching reading more engaging. Using the Rooted in Reading program as a supplement to our textbook, we will read a new picture book each week. We will study grade level content standards through the text, including vocabulary and grammar, and analyze beautifully written literature. Using these books will also guarantee that students are read aloud to on a continual basis. This is not always true for third grade students, and it is so important for them to have a positive example of a strong reader, along with having an adult figure that shows reading is fun! My students are thrilled to be able to read a new book each week, and I can't wait to share these with them!
