My students are in my class studying the benefits of drama and public speaking to the community and to themselves. Together, we have built a classroom community that encourages discussion, artistic vision, discussing and challenging concepts, and, most importantly, each other. Additionally, we have worked together to create an extracurricular drama program at the school. My students are hard workers: they ask questions, they give new concepts their all, and they aren't afraid to fail a few times to get things right by the end. My students are not only interested in the principles of drama/public speaking, but they are also passionate about being able to use their voices to empower themselves and to empower others through storytelling in various formats.
