As we begin the year with these unprecedented times, I am looking for a way to keep my students engaged and focused during daily instruction. Using an iPad, pencil, and the Google notes app, I start a lesson by taking a quick screenshot of the lesson page I plan to have the students complete at home. I will model for the student on my own page, share examples, and ask follow up questions before they begin their independent work. This technique will allow my students to visualize the standard I am teaching during large and small group instruction. In addition, the students will also be able to interact with full engagement daily and allow them to take the knowledge they have learned and independently and collaboratively work on these skills in the future.
