All of my students practice different social skills and coping strategies they may not be an expert in or understand. We will be able to read these books aloud in person and virtually. While reading we can have discussions, pose questions, and ask questions and wonder how they would act if they were in the character's shoes. For example, in the book Lacey Walker the Nonstop Talker, students will earn Lacey Walker loves to talk. She talks all day, and sometimes all night. But when she loses her voice, Lacey learns the importance of listening. Students will learn the importance of listening, this will give us the chance to discuss how we can listen respectfully, and how it makes others feel. We can then discuss how it would make us feel if we lost our voice and could not talk for the day, what coping skills could we use, how would you feel?
