The Swivl camera will provide the ability to record lessons to share with students for digital learning; moreover, students will be able to engage with lessons and assignments more with recorded direct instruction. Additionally, using the Swivl for self-reflection will help improve my pedagogy (teaching style). The Swivl will be something that can be used for many years in both my general education and AP classes. Students ask for me to record lessons so that they can refer back to them to study for an assessment as well as to relearn material or concepts that might need more reinforcement. Henry David Thoreau aspired for the education to be "a pleasant thing both to the teacher and scholar… We should seek to be fellow students with the pupil, and should learn of, as well as with him, if we would be most helpful to him.” All English students thrive when the classroom has the essential elements of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Attaining a Swivl camera for my classroom would provide me to be able to record class sessions and post them for students to watch and learn distantly. With a Swivl and sharing the recordings students will be able to get better direction for higher success when executing assignments.
