It is so important that students have books that are both mirrors (where they see themselves portrayed) and windows (where they can experience how someone else lives) so they can be empathetic and understanding towards others who may be different than them. It is very important to me to have a culturally responsive classroom and to show students that they belong. I have slowly been building the diversity in my classroom library and would love to continue to add books that show all different stories and voices! My students now and in the future will benefit from these amazing read alouds.
