The materials in my project will greatly aid my scholars in their initial days of virtual learning! We will spend the first few class sessions focusing on social-emotional wellness, and use the colored pencils, pencils, and journals to track our moods, thoughts, and feelings as we begin to delve into self-work with the Zones of Regulation. This toolkit will enable students to self-assess their emotional states and triggers, in addition to teaching them strategies to restore balance. Virtual community building is another large focus of our preliminary sessions that will be supported by materials in this project. We will use the class texts and white boards to engage in discussions and activities that reveal commonalities and differences among us that will strengthen our exchanges throughout the year. Flexible pencils and snacks will provide students a physical outlet and nourishment to support focus throughout all of the aforementioned activities!
