With just under 7,000 books in our library, there are no adapted books for students to choose. Adapted books will make it possible for students to interact with the books without fear of damaging the materials, giving them freedom of choice and an opportunity to explore a greater selection of books. Adapted books in the library will ensure that all students of differing abilities will have access to engaging books. Our special education population comes to the library regularly and often are not engaging with books. Students will often complete an activity related to a read aloud, and adapted books will allow my special education students to be more involved and immersed in the story. Although my special education students are the main focus in purchasing adapted books, all students can benefit from them. Donations to this project will help me purchase books that students of all abilities can enjoy.
