I am requesting two sand and water sensory tables with tools for sensory play and hands on learning. Children with autism have difficulties with communication, flexibility and understanding other people’s behavior; many also have difficulties with processing sensory information. My students learn best when they are engaged, regulated and have opportunities to learn hands on. The benefits of sensory activities for children with autism and wide ranging. Sensory play helps with: -Stimulating the brain, creating neural pathways and improving sensory processing systems -Improving social skills such as communication and cooperation -Improving coordination, as well as fine/gross motor skills -Providing sensory input that can calm students when they are dis-regulated
