In kindergarten, we are learning how to recognize the alphabet, read, write and count as well as many other curricular standards and social and emotional skills. Since I will be teaching virtually, the students will not have practice with their fine motor skills and kindergarten will not be as ‘hands-on’ as it normally is. Before the pandemic, I would be able to provide these classroom materials with my own money and my students would share the supplies. Now that we are virtual, they would benefit from having their own personal set of classroom supplies. By providing my students these necessary materials, it will engage them more in my instruction and enhance their learning experience. Considering that I will be teaching kindergartners virtually, they will need to have as much hands-on learning as they possibly can. To make that happen for my students, I would like to provide them the basic materials that we use on a daily basis in the classroom such as crayons, markers, scissors, glue, pencils and paper. This will completely change my student’s virtual learning experience by using hands-on materials such as crayons, paper, scissors and glue to enhance their understandings and engage them in their own learning. What is kindergarten without colorful crayons and sticky glue?
