I have dreamed of having an iPad to use during my speech therapy sessions for a long time. An iPad would allow me to help student's communication needs in several different ways. I work with children on the autism spectrum as well as delayed 3 year olds, a lot of times these children are non-verbal and an iPad would help give them a voice. There are several apps that can serve as a communication device for a child. I also work with children who stutter, an iPad would give me the ability to record the child talking so they can listen to themselves and identify their disfluencies of speech. There are also many engaging activities for children with articulation and language delays. I travel between two elementary schools so having a device with engaging apps to use in speech therapy would make it a lot easier to carry materials back and forth. Having an iPad would also be very beneficial during virtual learning as I could screen share the activities from the apps (which are often interactive) with the children. An iPad is very engaging to children and is also a great way to get the most up to date speech materials out there! Thank you so much for your support!
