Learning from a distance during this COVID-19 pandemic is less than ideal. However, that doesn't mean it has to be boring! I plan to use the items requested in this project to educate my students about the marine ecosystem which surrounds them. I want to take my students on virtual field trips to teach them about marine science. What better way to do that than to use examples from their own backyard?! The videos and photos I gather will be a way to incorporate local examples and incorporate the importance of the ocean in native cultures and today's society. I plan to make the ocean come alive through every students' computer screen! Using the GoPro, I will record videos and take photos of local marine life, geological formations, and show ecosystem interactions to enhance student learning. I will create engaging assignments based on these recordings and present information to students they can later reinforce when they visit these same local places (post quarantine). Although we can't be together for face-to-face learning, I plan to take them on virtual adventures and create a sense of community!
