Students will be in full online distance learning to begin this school year. As much as that saddens me, as an educator I am more than confident that I can adequately provide a great education but only with some help. That help comes in the form of needed materials and supplies to fully participate and have equitable access to the curriculum. The benefit of these materials for my students are vital - coming from a low-income school we have a high need for support and materials to allow all students the ability to possess and share their knowledge. Some examples of these include whiteboards and markers for quick check-ins, comprehension checks, and social-emotional lessons for mood check-ins. Things like crayons, sharpeners, and other readily available materials are something that is second nature in the classroom, but at home, not all students and families have the ability to provide or access those needed everyday materials. Overall, the basics of at home learning is going to be put together in a small take home bag for students - we anticipate the students having much higher success and overall accessibility this fall because of our ability to plan and provide the necessary materials to our students.
