What feelings are visiting today? Feelings tackle a child’s natural capacity to fully experience the present moment. Books allow children to explore their emotions with their senses and gain an understanding of how feelings can lodge in the body. Feelings are not good nor bad, they simply just are. Kids need words to express their feelings, just as they need words to name all things in their world. Books allow students to see strong, colorful, and expressive images to connect the word and the emotion. The children will learn useful words, and have many chances to open conversations about what’s going on in their life. With these new books, my students will be able to hear and discuss a variety of books that will allow them to put words with the emotions that they feel. This will help my students grow stronger in their expression of their feelings. The discussion cards will allow my students to express their feelings and emotions in smaller groups. The small groups will allow the students to practice the skills needed to express their feelings. The students will grow stronger in their expression of their feelings by working in small groups with peers and with the counselor.
