English Language Learners actively learn when activities meet the following for aspects: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. With these various creative tools, students will be able to hit all four domains in each lesson plan but also be allowed to explore ways to express their knowledge. Each of my students varies in language proficiencies from knowing basic English to survive to have about four to five years of experience. ELLs already have the language barrier to overcome, so the least that can be done it provide multiple creative ways for them to express their knowledge. With post-it notes, students can express their thoughts with simple sentences or illustrations. With whiteboards, I can conduct a check for understanding where students can once again, write their answers, or have room to draw their responses. This usage of whiteboards will be supported by the usage of expo markers and dry-erasers. Let’s not forget this will allow the perfect opportunity for social distancing. By choosing to donate to this project, you will be helping about sixty individuals academically and mentally grow. They will be allowed to expand from just paper and pencil lessons to activities that will challenge them in each area. Not only will you be helping improve their education, but you will be setting a stone on their path to their success. Whether it means becoming an architect, mechanic, doctor, construction worker, psychologist, or teacher, they will be one step closer to their dreams because of your support.
