C-Pens read any text the user runs this "magic wand" across. Even though a lot of learning will be taking place virtually, some readers learn better using paper materials rather than digital screens. For a struggling reader it is hard to work independently when so many words are unfamiliar to them and difficult for them to sound out, especially if it is a word they have never heard of before. C-Pens will give these readers the independence they need in reading because it will not only read the words to them, but allow them to listen to the definition of the word it reads. I would like for my students to be able to choose a library book and be able to read it independently without worrying whether or not there are too many hard or unknown words for them to read. The more students are able to do on their own, the more confidence they gain in their independence. I have seen these pens used at a previous school I worked in and they make such a difference to students.
