This wonderful collection of seventeen picture books will be used for read-alouds to help instill a positive growth mindset in my students, whether we are in our virtual classroom or learning together in person. For example the book Counting on Katherine: How Katherine Johnson Saved Apollo 13, shows that can do attitude I want to instill in my kiddos. Books can take readers places out of their comfort zone, help them grasp the "Can Do" attitude and believe in themselves. I love reading to my students and they love it too. Several of the titles I have chosen integrate perfectly into our science lessons. After reading a story to the children, they may be challenged to create or engineer an invention from everyday household items to share with the class.
