Nearpod is a Google Add-on that turns Google Slides into an interactive learning tool. Using Nearpod, I am able to craft interactive and student-focused math lessons that engage ALL of my students and help them to build mathematical understanding and confidence. I want to ensure that ALL of my students reach their full potential. Nearpod helps me to make sure that every student has a voice (particularly my students who are learning English or my quieter students). Students are excited and eager to work and engage in deep mathematical thinking using this tool. With Nearpod, students write about or draw their mathematical ideas. It is low stress and inviting. The magic happens when we share students’ approaches with each other and clarify common misconceptions. Nearpod allows me, as the teacher, to give immediate, real-time feedback to EVERYONE and I love that I can use student work to drive the conversation. This is something that I do routinely in the classroom and it is harder to do during distance learning.
