Last year I took approximately 60 students to the TN College of Applied Technology. We used this field trip to expose students to career paths involving welding and industrial maintenance. I was surprised to find out that very few of the students had ever been around a welding application. I want to use this MIG welder to give students the experience of welding, most of which will be their first. It is amazing to me to see the need in the workforce for this skill set and the lack of knowledge or experience of our students. I believe that if I can bridge this gap for my students, there will be many lives changed for the better by obtaining licensure and credentials in the highly sought after crafts of welding and maintenance.
