In the classroom, we always conduct literacy and math centers so that students learn through hands-on activities. The center activities focuses on sub skills that students must learn such as author's purpose, phoneme awareness, reading fluency, reading comprehension, numerical identification, one-to-one correspondence, addition and subtraction. Due to budget cuts and restrictions, most of the resources printed to use at centers are black and white. Students love it when the activities are in color because it brings life to the task the students are completing. Color speaks louder than words and brings life to the students academic world! The activity becomes enjoyable and students see the pictures in color. It will be more engaging for the students when they are working together in small groups and independently. I will be able to print out color activities for students to work at home. Many students don't have the chance to work on hands-on activities at home. By printing it and providing it for students to take home or pick up, it will definitely enhance their engagement at home.
