These magazines and books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create, now within their home. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Now that we are learning virturally I want to continue that experience from their own homes. I will mail them their magazine bundle each month along with a book. They will be able to take a break from online learning and read print rich text about science, current events, diverse cultures, and various genres. I will be able to adapt lesson plans from the Scholastic website to differentiate instruction for my students who are on various reading levels. Many students lack the ability to get their hands on new and exciting books and/or magazines. Mailing these bundles will give them access to diverse literature, science, and current events and allow their eyes to rest from the screen for independent reading. With these new books and high interest magazines, my students will have access to new and diverse topics at their finger tips. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these magazines and books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
