As a special education teacher in a NYC middle school I was heartbroken to have to switch to remote learning in March. Luckily I teach hardworking and dedicated students who came to my Google Meet classes everyday 5 times a week from March to June! During remote learning my students had to use old desktop computers or smartphones to join Google Meet classes and complete their assignments. Remote learning was difficult and frustrating for them but they pushed forward and worked hard. I cannot fully express how proud I am of these kids who despite all the challenges in their lives stepped up and did their very best! This September when we are back in the classroom technology will be scarce. My school does not have enough laptops for every student and sharing devices isn’t allowed due to the CDC guidelines. I would love to have a classroom set of laptops for my students to use. I have been taking courses to brush up on digital game-based learning and differentiation with digital tools. This is all in preparation for a school year that is going to be unlike any other in all my 15 years of teaching. Thank you for reading!
