Children need to move. These wobble cushions and stools will allow them to wiggle and move while they stay seated at their desks. Our movements in the classroom will be severely limited due to the new Covid-19 regulations. An uncomfortable student is a distracted and unproductive student. For example, picture a student who skipped or didn’t have access to breakfast. As the countdown to lunch approaches, the sound of his or her growling stomach will make it impossibly hard to hear the teacher’s voice. A uncomfortable chair can have the same affect. It’s should come as no surprise that physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior. An academic paper by Matthew T. Mahar, et al, found that simple in-class activities can boost performance. Studies suggest that children who participate in short bouts of physical activity within the classroom have more on-task behavior, too. Flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch. This can help children focus and process information. Sensory input is especially helpful for students with ADHD and ADD. With the growing list of rules and procedures that must be adhered to in order to be compliant with the CDC's recommendations for school, students will find themselves confined to one seat all day. These stools and cushions will help to make this situation much more comfortable.
