It is difficult enough to talk with a mask on, much less, project your voice across the room. For the days we are in the classroom and not working online, this amplifier will ensure students understand the directions and hear the lesson. Having students write responses on whiteboards make it easy to administer a check for understanding after modeling a concept. Each student will feel comfortable sharing a response, even if they are not confident about their answer. It also allows me to accurately determine who was able to grasp the concept. Many want to share but fear of being judged stops them. Typically, unsure students usually raise their hands when they see everyone else’s hand go up which is not a true reflection of comprehension. Supplies are always an issue, so, I wanted to give each student a pen that can be kept in their notebooks in the classroom since borrowing would not be a wise this year (Covid-19).
