All of my students want to learn to play the xylophones during Music class. But our class sizes have grown in the past few years, and now the ratio of students to instruments is 2:1. This limits the learning opportunities, and means that students must share instruments and mallets. These additional xylophones and mallets will allow students to enjoy making music in a safe environment, while observing social distancing. This is extremely important as we return to school amidst Covid conditions. It is important for everyone to experience the joy and musicality of playing the Orff xylophones during Music class. This style of music appeals to children of all ages, abilities, or language proficiency. Primary students will practice steady beat, create rhythms and melodies, and learn to play together as a group. Upper elementary students will also learn to improvise, compose songs, and perform in Orff ensembles. Every single student in my school will benefit from these instruments for years to come.
