These books were carefully selected to align with our first grade curriculum and will be read aloud to students. They will help my students become engaged in reading and foster learning. Reading aloud to students is important within the early elementary grades. By reading aloud, students are exposed to a wide variety of story structures, genres, characters, and writing styles. Students' knowledge of vocabulary and concepts are increased through the use of rich literacy. Furthermore, reading aloud books provides students with a good model of fluent and expressive reading, as wells as opportunities for discussion and writing. These special read aloud books will have a home in our classroom for a lifetime and will be read aloud to students for many years to come!
