I want my students from diverse backgrounds to be able to "see themselves" in the books we have in our classroom. I want my students from majority backgrounds to learn about various cultures and abilities. I want all my students to learn about the wonderful diversity and contributions of people in our country and world! These books will be used to read aloud to students, and to incorporate literacy into our lessons both in the virtual environment, and hopefully in person soon. Once we are back in person, and as soon as it is an option, they will also be incorporated into our class library so students can self select these books to look at and read. The bookshelf will help me provide easy storage and organization for the classroom library.
