Many younger students are kinesthetic learners; they learn best by movement. The math manipulatives will allow my students to dive into learning with hands-on experience in a fun and engaging manner in the classroom. During these unprecedented times, I want to ensure that my students will have the math tools they need to use from home as well if needed. Research suggest that physical objects help people solve everyday math problems. These tools will help our classroom with number sense, distinguishing patterns, making measurements, understanding base-ten and place value, connecting different concepts, communicating mathematical ideas effectively, and engage students in problem-solving skills.
