Teaching students to read encompasses many different standards and skills. Students must learn to decode words, build words, comprehend what they have read, listen to stories while being able to answer questions about it, and write about a given topic. As a teacher, I have learned the best way to get students to learn is by keeping them active and participating in the lesson. With these stamps, games, and manipulatives placed in my project, I believe my students will have fun and engaging activities that promote learning. Instead of the traditional use of pencils to write sight words and sentences, the students can use the stamps and stamp pads to complete the assignments. Instead of flashcards to learn about sight words, word building, and blends, the students will be able to learn these skills through the word games. All these materials have been picked with my students in mind to provide an effective learning environment in an alternative way.
