By creating a classroom of identity, diversity, justice, and action, our students will value others, respect others, and learn to relate to ALL people. These books will open up new and exciting worlds for my students, who might not otherwise be exposed to them. The students of my class will see themselves in these new books and take pride in the fact that their heritage is represented and taught. What the children learn from these books and their corresponding lessons will reach far beyond our classroom walls into their homes and into society.
