My students would benefit from using dry erase boards to answer questions. Using tools, such as these, gets every student engaged and active in the lesson. Many times, there are only a few students that will raise their hands to answer questions, and the other students are not actively participating. With tools like dry erase paddles, students will be held accountable to pay attention and present an answer, when asked. This is also a very beneficial tool to me as a teacher, because I can visually see which students understand the material and whether I need to move on or present the information in a new way to help those that are struggling. The cash register is also an invaluable tool in a 2nd-grade classroom. Students start to learn about money and the values of each coin and bill. With a manipulative like this cash register, students can use play as a way to practice new skills and to progress in learning. The clock carpet would be a perfect way to help students start to tell time. With a large, visual aid, they will have an easier time looking at the values of each place on the clock, while also seeing how time can be written differently.
