My 5th graders are always eager to learn, and I want to give them the best opportunity to do so! Last year was my first year to teach and I was extremely limited in materials available to my students. Amongst the COVID-19 pandemic, many students have fallen behind in school, and their parents are not able to provide them the necessary basic school supplies for the upcoming year. Many of the items on my list such as pens, pencils, dry erase boards and clipboards will be used daily as my students engage with new math and science material. I am big fan of rotating station activities, so the clipboards will be useful as students actively learn around the classroom. The flexible seating allows students to make decisions regarding their learning and what works best for them. Students tend to work better and stay engaged in the material when they are given choice, especially at this age.
