These materials will be used to give kids that have difficulty responding to traditional teaching methods another alternative. One of discovery through the arts! I noticed when we met for our Child Study Team meetings to talk about at risk kids that teachers had brought to discuss, several mentioned “ they like to draw “ or “they like art”. With distance learning and virtual teaching, I thought it would be neat to give them the freedom to learn lessons through expressing themselves by creating their own art at home. For example, instead of a lengthy writing assignment ( very difficult for some) the child would draw or paint his/her version of a story and present it to the teacher and or class virtually and explain its meaning. It gives the child something to be proud of and a way to shine!
