More and more, my kindergarten students are experiencing day to day challenges unlike any other time in the past. In an everchanging world of unrest, the need to teach today's young children coping skills is more important than ever. Character education is a learning process that enables students to understand, care about, and act on core ethical values such as respect, justice, civic virtue and citizenship, and responsibility for self and others. Social-Emotional Skills include the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for youth to recognize and control their emotions and behaviors; establish and maintain positive relationships; make responsible decisions and solve challenging situations, and set and achieve positive goals. These skills are so important. Children aren’t born knowing how to manage emotions, solve problems, and get along with others. These kinds of skills have to be developed. They need to be explicitly taught how to be a person with character. Your contributions will support my students by allowing me the ability to purchase instructional resources that are specifically for teaching kids these skills. With these materials, we will be able to role-play, discuss, and learn healthy ways to achieve success!
