When people learn that I am a science teacher, they often reminisce about their own experience in science as a student and share recollections of favorite lab activities from times past. In my earliest teaching days as a camp counselor at a natural resources education camp, I was introduced to the following Chinese proverb by the camp director: "Tell me and I'll forget; show me, I may remember; but involve me and I'll understand." This philosophy guides my teaching today. In AP Biology, I want students learn science by engaging in the curriculum as scientists. I will involve students in research, critical thinking, and scientific dialog, but I need your help to bring them the equipment and materials needed to engage in scientific experimentation and laboratory work. Help make possible the science these students will remember for a lifetime.
