In 20 years of teaching I've packed up and moved my classroom from Missouri to California, then back across the country to Virginia before finally returning home to Missouri. Each move meant substantial classroom downsizing, and my student library was hit hard every time. This upcoming year I'll be teaching second grade for the first time in over a decade, where independent reading practice is especially crucial to literacy development. My goal is to rebuild my classroom library into something fresh and inviting, where students can always find a book to enjoy. This Donor's Choose campaign will help provide my class with lots of fiction and nonfiction literature, allowing students to make interest-based literature choices. Kids learn to love reading when they're able to read about things they love. Thank you for helping me encourage and motivate students to become life-long readers!
