The book list you see will allow me to read with my students who do not have access to the materials or my specialized instruction. It will allow them to listen to stories and scenarios that speak to the theme of empathy in particular. But more than that- these books are stories from authors and characters that look like my students, grew up like my students, faced the same hardships as my students, and overcame similar obstacles like my students. These books have my students in them, and they will find inspiration from stories they can directly relate to! These books will be used in my classroom library and are relevant NOW, not 75 years ago in classrooms, but TODAY. My students NEED to hear these words!
