I have researched the learning benefits of flexible seating for my students. I would love to provide them the opportunity to take charge of their own learning by allowing them to choose where to sit in their learning environment. Currently my students work at tables or use clipboards as they sit or lay on the floor. Students who are comfortable will be more motivated in their learning. My students typically are more engaged and get more work done when they choose from the limited flexible seating options that I have in my classroom. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work, and are less disruptive when they are able to choose where they sit. The Surf seating that I have chosen will help to provide more portable seating options that students can use to complete their work. The lightweight seating can be moved and used anywhere in the classroom. The seating will also provide opportunities for learning to take place in an outdoor classroom setting. Students do not have a choice in what they learn, but having control on where they learn will have a positive influence on the development of their education.
