In any school building, there are many sounds and places in the building where students can expect loud noises. The noise cancelling headphones requested will help with certain auditory overwhelm throughout our school day such as during class when students are talking and they need to concentrate on their work. In the cafeteria, up to 4 classes are eating and chatting at the same time. The music room where many different instrument sounds can overwhelm students who are auditorily sensitive. The gym where screams of excitement and fun can echo and impair students as they try to calm themselves down from the overwhelm. There are so many wonderful experiences to be had during the school day. I have requested several different kinds of noise cancelling headphones to have varying options for my students.
