Being exposed to media (literature, TV shows, movies, etc. ) with characters that look like you is something many people of color don't get to experience enough. This project will allow my students to see themselves in the books they read in my classroom. This will help with their self confidence and motivation, as well as give them more books to read in our classroom library. We read at least one book aloud each day, and the students can access our classroom library whenever they want. By funding this project, you'll be helping about twenty-five students (1st-3rd grade) exponentially.
