These books will be a much needed addition to my classroom library while teaching third and fourth graders. Given the recent events in our world, I feel that is even more critical that students of all backgrounds be able to see themselves inside of the books they choose to read. In education, we call this having a "mirror" (versus looking through a "window"). I want all of my students to have a "mirror" when they read books in my classroom. My students need to see themselves inside of the books they read on a daily basis. They need to have books available at their reading level and with plot lines that they are interested in. By adding these books to my classroom library, my students will be well on their way to seeing themselves in the books they choose to read.
