Play is crucial for brain development.... Play is not just fun and games! When students come in each day, they are so eager to see each other, socialize and play. Typically, students are given morning work, which consists of sitting down with paper and pencil, thwarting their innate desire to explore and learn. Morning work in our class will now include playing which will address their social, emotional, cognitive and physical development needs. It will also provide opportunities to nurture their imaginations and encourage their desire to explore and learn. The items I chose will provide students with hands-on activities to play, explore, learn, grow, socialize and interact with each other!
