We want to give our student culturally relevant books that they can relate to, as well the utensils to produce excellent work. The book provides a backdrop to explore social issues in a safe and constructive way. The composition notebooks will allow the students to write down their thoughts or reactions to the story and enhance their critical thinking. This project will help our students gain knowledge of the past, present and how they are intertwined to guide their future. These items will help with vocabulary, constructed response, literature circles Socratic seminars, debates presentations and integrated art projects.
