As a first grade teacher, literacy is the center of my classroom. First grade is the year you read the most! I want to give my precious firsties a reading corner they will never forget! I know this because my kindergarten teacher had a reading loft, and I know it had an impact on my reading and that of my peers. Climbing up into the loft was like exiting the classroom and entering a cozy, charming place for me to dive in to my Junie B. Jones book. I will also use this reading nook as incentive for good behavior. Please help me give my first graders a reading area that will motivate them and make them feel at home!
