It is important that my students read about diverse characters and their life experiences. This helps them to not only see themselves, but have a window into the life of others. The books requested have received multiple awards and high ratings. I am very excited to update my classroom library and show hesitant readers that they can read about themselves and get a glimpse into the lives of others. I need a library stocked with amazing books that represent each child that enters my classroom. If a child says they do not love to read, it is my hope that they just haven't found the right book.
