My first grade scholars are highly motivated to learn to read, spell and do math. I work at a Title 1 school that is 95% free or reduced lunch and a high mobility rate. We work on words and spelling every day, and scholars benefit from repeated practice of spelling words and spelling patters. One of the favorite games we play is "Game Show" where I say a word and teams work to spell the word correctly and hold up the word in the air for points. I would love to play this game waste-free! These kids are some enthusiastic learners to love showing what they know with new and fun materials.
