I want my students to learn to appreciate one another's differences, and that differences make us unique. It's important for me to display diverse reading materials so that all my students all feel represented and included in my classroom. As a first year teacher I want to be able to celebrate my students traditions and learn about their cultures and how they identify. These books will help me in teaching reading and writing and hopefully open my students minds, allowing them to see things in a different way and being open to deep thought.
