The use of personal whiteboards allows students to work both collaboratively and independently to solve math problems. Students enjoy straying from the traditional paper and pencil method of showing their math work, and whiteboards provide an alternative method of expressing their thoughts. Students will enjoy using their new Expo markers and shiny, clean whiteboards to represent various ways to approach mathematical problem solving. Visually, whiteboards are a great way for teachers to implement formative assessment techniques in order to determine mastery of a concept or possible misconceptions students may have. Mistakes in work can be easily identified, erased, and corrected with the use of these materials. Daily use of these whiteboards, Expo markers, and erasers will surely help our students in their journey to attaining math success!
